About Como Park Zoo and Conservatory
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a 759-acre public park and botanical garden in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It features the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, a Victorian-style glasshouse with two acres under glass, alongside a free public zoo. The conservatory is renowned for its seasonal flower shows, tropical habitats, and the largest public bonsai collection in the upper Midwest.
History & Heritage
The land for Como Park was purchased in 1873, and the zoo was founded in 1897 when the mayor of Saint Paul donated a deer. The iconic Marjorie McNeely Conservatory opened to the public in 1915 as a classic Victorian glasshouse. In 1996, the conservatory added a dedicated bonsai collection, and it was renamed the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory following a major donation.
