About Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, now known as Daniel Stowe Conservancy, is located on 380 acres of meadows, woodlands, and lakefront property in Belmont, North Carolina. It features 30 acres of formal gardens, 12 fountains, a five-story glass conservatory, and eight miles of walking trails. The garden provides visitors with an inspiring experience that instills a love of nature and its beauty.
History & Heritage
The land was reserved by retired textile executive Daniel J. Stowe in 1991, who donated $14 million to develop the site. Construction began in 1997, and the first 110 acres opened to the public on October 9, 1999. In April 2025, the garden rebranded as the Daniel Stowe Conservancy to highlight its conservation efforts and expansive natural areas.

William H. Williamson III Conservatory
The William H. Williamson III Conservatory is an 8,000-square-foot, five-story glass house dedicated to displaying orchids and tropical plants. Opened in 2008, it features a waterfall and exotic plants like cocoa trees and vanilla orchids, providing a warm oasis year-round.
