About Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

The Roger Williams Park Botanical Center is an oasis in the heart of Roger Williams Park, featuring over 23,000 square feet of indoor display gardens. The year-round 70-degree temperatures in the greenhouses create a tropical ecosystem, while the outdoor gardens emphasize plants native to the New England region.

History & Heritage

Built in 2007, the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center is the newest building in the park. It was designed by Torrado Architects and Searle Design Group to accommodate large indoor trees. Long before it opened, the Parks Department greenhouses were on Park Avenue but were demolished as part of constructing Rhode Island Route 10.

Signature Feature

The Conservatory

The Conservatory is the largest greenhouse, consisting of a variety of tropical plants. It covers 12,000 square feet and stands 40 feet high, allowing towering palm trees to create shady paths in the year-round tropical warmth.
